IMG_6238.CR2 (1).jpg
  • Five days of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and outdoor activities

  • At Open Source Jiu-Jitsu in Asheville, NC

  • No experience or uniform needed

  • Two age groups: 6-11 and 12-15

  • The day will be divided up into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, games and outdoor activities

Choose your age group

Different ages learn differently! We'll tailor the jiu-jitsu experience to each age group so they get the most out of their training and play time. We may alter the age-grouping depending on the number of sign-ups.

Ages 6-11

The best way to learn new things is through play and games. Our campers will get plenty of time on the mats learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques through professional instruction and BJJ-specific games. When they're not on the mats, they'll get time outdoors with structured activities.

Ages 12-15

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a lifelong skill that will challenge your teen and pre-teen both physically and mentally. This camp will teach them new techniques and give them time to connect with friends and spend time outdoors.

Got questions? We've got answers!

Q: What experience level? Do they already have to be enrolled in jiu-jitsu?
A: No experience necessary! We'll ask each child's experience level on their registration form and design the camp to best fit everyone's needs.

Q: What if they’ve taken BJJ at a different gym?
A: All kids from all gyms are welcome!

Q: How many kids will there be?
A: There are limited spaces for Camp Grappalachia Kids. We'll allow 15 spots for each age group.

Q: What age can attend?
A: We'll be running two groups at the same time - one group for ages 6-11 and another for ages 12-15. We may alter the grouping of kids depending on the age range of the kids who sign up.

Q: What items do they need to bring with them? Do they need to have a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gi?
A: No gi needed! We know the pictures all show kids dressed in uniforms (those are called "gis," pronounced with a hard "g" to rhyme with "key"), but this camp will focus on no-gi jiu-jitsu.

Q: Gosh, what does jiu-jitsu even look like?
A: Jiu-Jitsu looks a lot like wrestling! We recommend checking out our Facebook or Instagram pages to get an idea of what to expect.

Q: Is there a family discount?
A: We offer a 10% discount off the total price for kids from the same family. Shoot us an email before registering so we can apply the discount.

Q: What are the facilities like?
A: Open Source Jiu-Jitsu is a gym with character. Is it pristine and glowing? Not unless you count the disco ball as glowing... Is it clean and cared for? Absolutely. Check out our facilities page here to get a feel for the vibe of the gym.

Q: What if I have questions not covered here?
A: Shoot us an email and we'll get right back to you!
