Grapple for Good is a non-traditional, fun (“not-so-serious”) Jiu-Jitsu tournament to benefit Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina and their programs serving veterans in need. While the tournament itself follows a more traditional rule-set, competitors are encouraged to get creative with their attire and have fun while competing in a friendly manner to help better serve less fortunate members of our community.
First place winner will receive a Ben's Tune-Up $150 gift card.
100% of registration fees and spectator contributions will be donated to Homeward Bound.

What is Homeward Bound?

"We’re a nonprofit organization ending homelessness in Buncombe and Henderson Counties of North Carolina. More than that, we’re non-judgmental staff, volunteers, board members, and people knowledgeable in social work disciplines who believe in the “Housing First” national best practice for ending homelessness. Mostly, we’re people who care about the most vulnerable among us enough to do something about it."

Anyone from any school and any level is invited to participate and have fun all while helping community members in need. This is an "absolute" only competition which means there are no weight/age/level divisions -just ONE division. Kids are welcome to sign up if their parents sign off, however they will be competing against adults.

Spectators are encouraged to come and support their friends, support Homeward Bound and simply have a good time supporting the Asheville BJJ community. Open Source Jiu-Jitsu is proud to be partnering with Ben's Tune Up and Pabst Blue Ribbon to bring together as many people as possible to benefit Homeward Bound WNC.

While the ruleset will closely resemble that of the EBI submission-only rule set , competitors are encouraged to get creative with their attire: tuxedos, prom dresses, Halloween costumes… it’s all good! During the competition, fighters are allowed to grab, pull and twist on anything attached to their opponents’ bodies (with the exception of rash guards and other undergarments) so please avoid wearing anything sharp or otherwise hazardous to grapplers. Furthermore, Open Source Jiu-Jitsu will provide backup attire should you not have an outfit or if your clothes get torn badly during competition.

Monday, October 29, 2018 at 6 PM. Competitors must arrive between 4:30-5:45 PM to go over the rules, warm up, ask questions and meet-and-greet.
